That’s why we ask everyone, What’s Technology for? and we get an answer, its for everything. So if you are an Internet lover and Tech freak, you must be aware of these amazing and rarely known facts.

ogle has removed support for SD cards since the release of ICS, some OEMs (namely Samsung) have gone against that and continue to include an SD slot for expandable storage. This is a good thing for many reasons; users can store pictures, movies, music, contacts and/or documents on here and not have to worry about their internal storage being taken up.
Unfortunately, this also leaves room for problems with the SD card, most notably with corruption of the content stored on the cards. Many apps and programs claim to be able to retrieve corrupted information but for the most part, don’t help much and require that you have the program set up before any corruption happens.
While I don’t guarantee that this guide will help you retrieve any personal information, you might be lucky and at least save some of what was lost, and prevent any more corruption from happening. I have used chkdsk before and was able to retrieve several pictures and a couple hundred songs
Now before we get started, you’ll need a couple of things; the corrupted SD card, and a computer running Windows. (I’m using Windows 7 for this demonstration)
Ok, ready? Let’s start
First off, you’ll need to go to the start menu on the bottom left of your computer screen
Click on that and there will be a search bar. Type in the word “cmd” and hit enter
You should see something named “cmd. exe” under a list of programs
Right click that and hit “Run as Administrator” as is shown below
This will open a command windows that will allow you to do a plethora of things, but most importantly, fix our SD card
The window will look something like this:
Now before you insert the SD card, make sure the card isn’t write protected as this will prevent the program from having access to the card
Look at your SD card, on the side there will be a “switch.” Make sure it is as far up as it can go (The letters on the card should be readable, not upside down)
Once you have checked for this, you can insert the card into your PC’s card slot
Doing this will open a window on your PC, showing the name of the card and asking if you want to open it or transfer any files to and from the card. Close out of the window
Now go back to the start menu and open “My Computer.” There will be a list labeled “Devices with removable storage” under which you will find your SD card and the drive letter. You’ll need the letter for when we use the chkdsk command.
In my case, the SD card has the driver letter “H:”
Your letter may be different, so make sure that you type in your specific one.
Now you will go back to the command window and type in “chkdsk” then your card’s drive letter, followed by a colon and /f
It should now look something like this:
After this is typed in, hit enter and wait for the program to go to work and find then fix any corruption on the card. This can take a few minutes, depending on the amount of corruption and on the storage size of the card
When it is done, you should see this in your command window:
In this example I have no corruption, so the wait time was very short and I didn’t get any reports of data being retrieved or fixed.
Cards with corrupted data will get any recovered data stored in the directory lost.dir in the SD card’s list of folders
Now we’re all done
Hopefully this helped out some of you with the recovery of any info and/or with preventing any further corruption.
I also recommend reformatting the SD card once you use it again as it will do so in the appropriate format for your specific device.

2. Movement Melts Away Stress
As much as it may stress you out just to think about exercising, once you actually start working out, you’ll experience less stress in every part of your life.
“Exercise produces a relaxation response that serves as a positive distraction,” says Cedric Bryant, chief exercise physiologist for the American Council on Exercise. He says it also helps elevate your mood and keep depression at bay.
You’re not the only person who will benefit from more happiness and less stress in your life. When you’re less stressed, you’re less irritable, Atkinson says — and that could improve relationships with your partner, kids, and co-workers.
3. Fitness Pumps Up Your Heart
Not only does exercise help fight disease, says Bryant, it creates a stronger heart — the most important muscle in the body. That helps makes exercise — and the activities of daily life — feel easier.
“Your heart and cardiovascular system will function more effectively,” says Bryant. “The heart will build up less plaque. It will become a more efficient pump.”
And “when the heart becomes stronger, it pumps more blood per beat, so at rest, the heart rate is lower,” says Astorino. “It’s not going to have to beat as fast” to expend the same amount of effort.

No,” says Atkinson. “But you can afford to enjoy some of the things you really like when you exercise regularly. Difference between an inverter and a UPS is very simple, when a layman talks about this difference. Any person will tell you that both the inverter and the UPS are used to give your electrical and electronic appliances and gadgets a backup power support when there is an electricity failure in your office or home. A layman will also tells you that the electricity backup from the UPS is instant and it does not let your electronic gadgets to get switched off and the electric supply is continuous and that is why it is given a name UPS which stands for uninterrupted power supply. However, the backup supply of power from an inverter gets delayed by one or two seconds, which causes your electronic gadgets to get switched off and you have to switch them on to start them again. This is the reason that most people use UPS to support backup of electricity to their computers and other costly electronic equipment, which otherwise get damaged due to sudden power failure.
Let us now define the difference between an inverter and a UPS from the technical point of view:
UPS: The one power cable of your UPS is fixed in the power socket of your wall when the power is on. So, the UPS keeps on getting a regular power supply from the mains when the power is on. This AC power received from the mains power source continuously keeps on being converted to DC. This DC power keeps on charging the battery of the UPS in a continuous charging mode. So, the battery of the UPS is always kept charged during the time when the power is there in the mains. The output from the battery goes to the Sine wave inverter of the UPS. It converts DC to AC and this feeds the equipment. This makes it very clear that the power to your electrical gadget which is connected to the UPS is always supplied from the battery. Due to the power always being drawn from the battery to the electrical equipment, there is no time lag in case of electricity failure and the flow of the mains power stops. It is only the battery of the UPS which stops from being charged since there is no power in the mains. However, the backup power from the battery of the UPS keeps on being supplied uninterrupted till the battery is discharged and is no more able to supply the power to the eqauipment. This is why we find that the backup power of the battery of the UPS is of very short period ranging from 15 – 20 minutes upward. The more is this backup time of the UPS battery, the more will be the cost of the UPS. Otherwise also, the circuitry of the UPS is expensive making the UPS even of a small backup time more costly.
Inverter: As far as the power to the inverter is concerned, like UPS it also comes from the mains for the inverter battery to get charged when there is no power cut off. The main difference between the inverter and the UPS lies in the fact, that in an inverter, the power is directly sent to the output which is connected by wiring to various appliances. At the same time the AC is also converted to DC and this DC is constantly charging the battery. On the other hand, the power to the appliances is not directly sent to the output but it goes from the battery of the UPS which keeps on getting discharged. A sensor and relay mechanism checks whether the mains is ON or OFF in an inverter. When the mains get switched off, the relay mechanism triggers to switch from mains to inverter. Rest is same like the UPS. Because of this sensor and relay, there is a gap between triggering.
It helps to think of programming languages in terms of how closely they are able to control what a computer is actually doing. These are commonly classified as low-, intermediate- and high-level programming languages. Computers execute machine code, and assembly language is considered the lowest level programming language; it is a human readable version of machine code.
C was created to provide a structural programming language that is easier to use than assembly. It is considered a low-level programming language with little to no loss in performance relative to assembly. This made C the natural choice for building operating systems and low-level software on computers because it allowed for easier development at near-assembly performance.
C++ is essentially an extension of C. The original C++ compilers just pre-compiled directly into C, which was then compiled to machine code, while modern C++ compilers can easily compile C or C++ into machine code. C++ was designed to allow developers to use all of the existing features of C but provides a number of extensions to support object-oriented programming techniques in an intermediate-level programming language.
C# is a complete outlier in this list. Despite it’s name, it has far more in common with Java than C or C++. C# is an object-oriented, high-level programming language. Like Java, C# provides a number of features to make it easier for a developer to code in this language such as type checking, bounds checking, uninitialized variable checking, and garbage collection. While the language does not technically specify how it is executed, C# is most commonly compiled into byte-code (rather than machine code) and executes on a virtual machine (like Java) that converts the application into machine code on the fly.
Developers who are focused on performance still pick C or C++ as their language of choice. Nearly all operating systems (kernel and low-level system software) are written in C, C++ or some combination of the two. Most high-profile server and desktop software is also written in C++. For example, most web browsers, office suites and games are written in C or C++. C# remains a common choice for internal/enterprise applications but is less common forcommercial software.
HOW TO INCREASE YOUR WINDOWS LAPTOP BATTERY LIFE
We often fixate on smartphone battery life, but most laptops still don’t have all-day battery life. Rather than always using your laptop tethered to an outlet, here are some ways to squeeze more life from your laptop’s battery.
None of these tricks will turn a laptop without much stamina into an all-day workhorse, but they’ll help you go without an outlet for a while longer. Pay particular attention to your laptop’s display — that’s the big battery sucker.
Reduce Screen Brightness
The biggest battery drain on any modern portable electronic device — whether it’s a laptop, smartphone, or tablet — is the display. Reducing your screen’s brightness is a simple way to squeeze significantly more time from your laptop’s battery.
On a typical laptop, you generally hold the Function (Fn) key and press the brightness buttons on your laptop keyboard. The lower the brightness level, the longer you can use your laptop on battery power.
You can also use the Windows Mobility Center to quickly adjust screen brightness. Open it by pressing Windows Key + X on Windows 7. On Windows 8, you can launch it from the Control Panel — Windows Key + X opens the power user menu instead.
Have Your Display Automatically Turn Off
If you step away from your laptop for a few minutes, its screen will still be on, draining power. You can set more aggressive display power settings to have the laptop dim and turn off the display when you’re not using it.
Open the Power Options dialog in the Control Panel and set your display to dim and turn off after a short period of time. You can move your mouse or press any key to turn the display right back on with no delay, so this is an easy way to save power — as long as the display doesn’t turn off while you’re using the laptop, this shouldn’t bother you too much. Media players set the display to automatically stay on while they’re running, ensuring you can still watch a video without constantly having to move your mouse or change your power settings.
Disable Bluetooth and Other Hardware Devices
Your laptop likely has a Bluetooth radio and may even have an infrared (IR) port. All of these devices use battery power simply by being enabled and powered on. You can save battery power by disabling them when you aren’t using them. To disable Bluetooth, you can often press the Function (Fn) key and press the key with the Bluetooth symbol on your laptop.
Disabling Wi-Fi can also help if you aren’t using it. For example, if you’re using your laptop on an airplane and not taking advantage of in-flight Wi-Fi, turn off your laptop’s Wi-Fi to save some power. Wi-Fi can be turned off in a similar way using the function keys on your laptop or even by disabling the Wi-Fi adapter in the Control Panel’s network connections window.
Tweak Your Power Plan
Windows offers power plans that can quickly change your laptop’s power settings to different profiles. For example, you can have your computer in Balanced mode most of the time and switch to Power saver mode when you need every bit of power you can get. Each power plan’s settings can be modified individually. You’ll find power plans in the Control Panel’s Power Options window.
To modify advanced power options, click the Change plan settings link and select Change advanced power settings.
You can change a variety of settings here, including setting your laptop to power off its hard drive more quickly and telling your computer to slow down the processor rather than turning on the fan if it becomes hot. Both of these behaviors will save power. The default settings should be fairly optimal if you select Power saver mode, but you can make the settings even more aggressive in some areas.
Use the Windows Power Troubleshooter
Windows 7 and 8 include a power troubleshooting tool that will scan your system for common battery drains and automatically fix them. To load this tool, open the Troubleshooting pane in the Control Panel — perform a search for Troubleshooting to find it.
Select the View All option in the Troubleshooting pane and launch the Power troubleshooter.
Windows will look for common issues and automatically fix them. This is a quick way to check if a laptop’s settings are optimal without digging through many different options dialogs.
Slim Down Startup Programs, Use Lighter Software
To save power, make your computer do less in general:
- Don’t use a screensaver. They are unnecessary on modern display and will drain your battery to do nothing useful when your display could be off and saving power.
- Run fewer programs in the background. Examine your system tray for programs you don’t need and uninstall them or disable them and prevent them from automatically starting with your computer
- Reduce CPU usage. If you use heavy programs that have your CPU doing a lot of work all of the time, your CPU will use more power and your battery will drain faster. Running fewer programs in the background can help with this, as can selecting lightweight programs that are easy on system resources.
- Avoid maxing out your RAM. If your computer fills its RAM and needs more memory, it will move data to the page file on its hard drive, and this extra hard drive usage can drain battery. This shouldn’t be a problem on modern computers with a decent amount of RAM. If your laptop’s RAM is full, try to make more RAM available — close programs running in the background or even upgrade your laptops RAM.
The less your computer has to do, the more power it can save. You can find more information about CPU and RAM usage in your Task Manager.
Hibernate Instead of Sleep
When your laptop goes to sleep, it uses a small amount of power to power its RAM and keep its system state loaded in memory, allowing it to wake up and resume in just a few seconds. When your laptop hibernates, it saves its system state to disk and powers off, using almost no power.
If you’re not going to be using your laptop for a few hours, place it into hibernate mode rather than sleep mode to conserve even more battery power. Sleep mode doesn’t use a lot of battery power, but hibernate uses as much as having the computer powered off.
If you’ve had your laptop for a while and the battery is holding less power than it used to — but you’re not ready to upgrade to a new laptop just yet — you can try replacing your laptop’s battery with a new one for even longer battery life.
LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST
Defragment your computer on regular basis. You could do this by going to Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Defragment Your Hard Drive > Choose the drive you want to defragment > Select Defragment.

TOP TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE YOUR ANDROID FASTER
It’s frustrating to drop several hundred dollars on a high-end smartphone only to find that the smooth and speedy performance you expected remains elusive. Mid-rangers and the budget end of the market are even more prone to stuttering and lag. There are various ways to speed up that Android performance, and a few things you can do to make it feel faster.
Make sure you’re up to date
The latest software will often contain bug fixes and general improvements and it can help your Android device to run better. Software updates tend to come OTA (Over The Air) and you should be automatically prompted to install them, but it doesn’t hurt to check. Go to Settings > About device > Software update and check for updates.
The same logic applies to apps, so fire up the Play Store, open the menu at the top left and tap My apps and make sure all of the apps you use are up to date.
Clean up your home screen
If you choose to use live wallpaper then consider replacing it with a good static image. You should also clean away any unused icons and limit your widgets to the essentials. The less cluttered your home screen is, the better in terms of performance.
Uninstall and disable unused apps
You don’t want to allow apps that you never use to take up space on your device and potentially eat into system resources. Go to Settings > Apps and swipe over to the All tab. Take a good long look down the list and identify the apps you don’t want or need. If you’re in doubt about what any of them do then it’s time to hit Google and check.
Tap on any app you don’t want and then choose Uninstall or, if the option is not there to uninstall, tap Disable. Disabled apps will be listed in a new tab, so you can always enable them again in future if you change your mind.
You should also take a look in Settings > Apps at the Running tab. Some apps want to be running all the time and they can seriously impact on performance. Think carefully about whether you need what’s listed there.
Turn off or reduce animations
You can make your Android device feel snappier by reducing or turning off some of animations. You’ll need to enable Developer options in order to do this. Go to Settings > About phone and scroll down to the System section to look for Build number. Tap on it seven times and you should see a message about being a developer. You can now go back to the previous menu and you should see Developer options listed under System. Head in there and scroll down to find Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale. Tap each in turn and set it to .5x or off. Pick an option and find out what suits you, if you don’t like just go back in and change the values again.
Clear cached app data
Cached data for apps should help them to load more quickly, but it can build up over time to take up quite a lot of space and there will potentially be cached data in there for apps that you no longer use. Sometimes clearing cached data for an app can also help clear up flaky behavior.
If you want to pick individual apps then head into Settings > Apps and slide over the All tab and tap on the relevant app then choose Clear cache. If you’ve decided to just clear the whole lot then go to Settings > Storage and tap on Cached data and then tap OK. Also, check out CCleaner, it cleans out your app cache and helps perform this kind of maintenance.
Turn off or reduce auto-sync
Most of us end up adding a list of different accounts to our Android devices and we allow them to automatically sync in the background to pull in new data and provide us with updates. All this syncing has a big impact on performance, not to mention battery life.
You could go to Settings and find Auto-sync under Accounts and just turn it off altogether, but that will be too drastic for most people. Instead why not just reduce the sync frequency and remove any accounts you don’t really need? For a lot of apps, like Facebook, you’ll need to open up the app and find the settings to reduce the sync frequency.
Wipe cache partition
The cache partition is separate from your app data cache and it contains temporary files. It’s worth cleaning this out every once in a while. You’ll have to boot into recovery mode to do it. The method of entering recovery mode varies depending on your device, but you’ll find it easily with a quick Google search. Once in recovery mode you use the volume keys to navigate and the power key to select an item. You’ll want to choose wipe cache partition.
Try a third-party launcher
Some of the customizations that OEMs make to their devices can be heavy-handed. If you want to change the feel of navigating around, and tweak some settings to make it feel speedier, then you might find that a third-party launcher does the trick. Try out something like Nova Launcher, Go Launcher EX, or Apex Launcher. Experiment with the settings and you should find that your device feels a lot faster.
Perform a factory reset
This is a drastic step, but some people recommend that you do a factory reset periodically if you want your device running in tip-top condition. It’s a shortcut to cleaning up your device and getting rid of any junk you’ve accumulated, but it means wiping all of the data and settings. If you decide to try it then make sure you back up everything that’s important to you first. You can find the option to do it in Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.
Overclock your device
One of the reasons you’ll see differences in performance between Android devices with essentially the same processors, is that some OEMs limit speed in order to reduce heat and extend battery life. If you’re willing to root your Android device then you can overclock it using an app like SetCPU or Android Overclock. It’s wise to proceed with caution if you do decide to do this.
Install a custom ROM
Rooting your Android device doesn’t automatically offer any performance improvements, but a custom ROM can. For some devices that are no longer being updated custom ROMs are a way of getting a newer version of Android. You can also find custom ROMs that dispense with bloatware entirely and offer some interesting tweaks and modifications. You’ll need to do some research to find the right custom ROM for you.

5 Factors that will Shorten the Life of Your UPS Battery
1. Ambient Temperature: A battery’s rated capacity is based upon an ambient temperature of 25°C (77°F). If a battery is operated at higher temperatures, its usable life will be shortened. Ambient temperature may not be a problem for UPS batteries used in air-conditioned data centers, but it could be a problem in industrial locations, unprotected environments or hot climates.
2. Number of Discharges: Have you been noticing that your UPS battery power isn’t lasting as long as it did when you first bought it? That’s because the number and length of battery discharges affect a battery’s ability to deliver power. The more discharges, the deeper the discharges, the shorter the battery’s life will be.
3. Age: Batteries are electrochemical energy storage devices that convert chemical energy into the electrical energy that UPS’s need to operate. But, even with battery charging, over time the chemicals in the battery deplete, which cause the battery to deliver less power and for shorter periods of time for a given load. Hence, no matter how carefully you use a battery, at some point, it’s time for battery “retirement.”
4. Load Sizing: If a battery is undersized for a load, battery run time and life expectancy will be shortened. You can verify your sizing with the Load and Runtime Calculator to ensure you have a properly sized battery bank for your current load.

Maintenance: Most UPS’s use sealed, valve-regulated, lead-acid (SVLRA) batteries, which are commonly called “maintenance-free.” But the maintenance-free feature really refers to the fact that they are sealed and don’t require the addition of electrolyte, as would flooded, wet cell batteries that are used in very large UPS systems. But even maintenance-free batteries need to be inspected to see whether there is corrosion buildup or leaks, and the terminal connections are tight. Without any kind of maintenance, your batteries often will have a shorter life.
Now that I’ve gone through the main things that affect battery life, let me go back to the customer’s question. Even if 3 to 5 years is the generally accepted range of a battery’s usable life, it would still depend on your operating environment and how you used the batteries. So, the best way you can ensure your batteries have enough juice to last your next power outage is with battery monitoring and inspection. Most UPS systems have a battery test feature on the front of the unit. If your UPS is lasting for less time on battery power than it used to, then you may need to consider that the battery is nearing the end of its usable life and needs to be replaced.
